Aikey King of Deery Brothers at ISFS

Jeff Aikey backed up a season championship run at ISFS with a masterful performance in the 40 lap Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models, but it didn’t come easy. Tyler Bruening dogged the series point leader for much of the race, but at the finish line it was Aikey by half a car length. Bruening finished agonizingly close in second with Ray Guss Jr. third, Jake Neal fourth and Chad Holladay fifth. Holladay, Bruening and Matt Ryan were the heat race winners.

Ryan Grochala looked to take home the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks from the pole position, but 2016 ISFS Track Champion Shannon Anderson had other ideas as the two put on a whale of a race for the win. Anderson would eventually clear Grochala on the final circuit to take the victory. Grochala finished second with Bill Bonnett third, Patrick Pellman fourth and Brandon Cox fifth. August Bach and Anderson were the heat race winners.

Bryan Spangler led most of the DTRA Truck Feature, but a restart with 2 laps to go made things interesting as Matt and Tony Moro swung high and low around him, and at the white flag it was anyone’s race! Spangler had a great run coming off turn four and took the win. Matt Moro was second, Tony Moro third, Larry Webb was fourth and Rick Clark was fifth. Tony Moro and Spangler were the heat race winners.

We at ISFS want to thank each and every one of you that has supported us all year long. Between the rain and heat, Mother Nature didn’t make it easy, but we all made it through another season together! We look forward to our future at ISFS, and stay tuned here on our website and also on our Facebook page for banquet info, updates about the speedway and more. Have a great offseason and we’ll see you soon!!
